Press release: Glow – A Women’s Evening of Change and Celebration – Dr. Samra the emcee

A Women’s Evening of Change and Celebration: Dr. Joti Samra, well-known organizational and media psychologist, Oprah Winfrey Network TV host and The Bachelor Canada psychologist, will be the emcee for Glow.

Dr. Joti Samra is a woman who has it all together. Intelligent, savvy, beautiful and vivacious, the Vancouver native is making a name for herself in the field of organizational and media psychology and in North American living rooms — as host of Oprah Winfrey Network’s Million Dollar Neighbourhood, just renewed for a second season. She is also a psychological consultant for the upcoming first season of The Bachelor Canada. She’s also the perfect choice to emcee Glow: A Women’s Evening of Change and Celebration, on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Executive Inn Hotel in Coquitlam, B.C.

Glow is an exciting combination of seminar, tradeshow and party, bringing together women who are seeking positive inspiration to change and improve their lives, while connecting with other women who want the same thing. And Dr. Samra believes women coming together to support each other in becoming happier and more fulfilled is a beautiful thing.

“As human beings, we are social creatures. The amount of good-quality social supports we have in our lives makes us resilient to the inevitable stressors we will all face,” Dr. Samra says. “An event like Glow, with its mix of inspiring speakers and fun party atmosphere, is a chance for women to stop juggling all of life’s many demands for a few hours and focus some much-needed attention on themselves. It’s a chance to reinvigorate and get inspired.”

Port Moody resident Mandi Sellers, the woman who started Glow, says Dr. Samra is more than just an emcee for the event — she’s a true inspiration.

The idea to hold a women’s event aimed at helping women live happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives came to Sellers in a dream where a group of confident, positive, happy women seemed to have the answers to finding personal fulfillment. To Sellers, the dream’s message was a personal revelation.

“Not only did I want to evolve myself to be like those women in my dream — in everything from my career and family life to health and image, but I wanted to help other women do the same,” says Sellers. “Dr. Joti Samra is a wonderful example of what women can achieve with confidence, determination and self-worth. We are honoured to have her as our event’s host.”

Glow’s main sponsor is VanCity, an organization also led by a dynamic female leader, Tamara Vrooman.

Glow will welcome attendees with the red carpet treatment, complete with an on-site “paparazzi-style” photographer, and a lucky head-to-toe makeover winner with hair, makeup and clothing ($600 value) from local Vancouver designer Malene Grotrian.

The event’s tradeshow floor will offer a mix of exciting exhibitor tables, along with a silent auction and seminar series on topics that include personal growth, love and sex, health and body image. Well-known experts from these fields — Dr. Ali Zentner, Ted Kuntz and Kim Amani — will present 30-minute, engaging sessions intended to inspire and empower attendees. (See more on our speakers at

A martini bar, complimentary hors d’oeuvres will round out the evening, along with a deejay who will open up the dance floor for a let-your-hair-down dance party celebration! The night will end with a complimentary swag bag for each attendee.

It’s also a charitable event, with proceeds going to the BC Cancer Agency, focusing on cancers that affect women, and local charitable organization Tri-City Transitions, which provides help to women and families who have been impacted by violence and abuse. “It was really important to us that the evening further helped the many women in B.C. who need support getting through difficult times,” adds Sellers.
